Book Description. These three volumes of letters by Algernon Charles Swinburne add approximately letters by this poet that were not available when Cecil Y. Lang published his six volume edition of Swinburne's letters.

The volumes also contain a selection of several hundred other letters addressed to Swinburne. The new edition includes letters published in journals by other scholars since the s, others from printed sources that Lang (forgivably) missed, and a choice from some letters to Swinburne known to survive.

His admiration for Charlotte and Emily, in particular, prompted two studies, a short book and an article, which were instrumental in establishing their critical reputation as it exists today.
